“I had a bad dream.”
Jake groaned and wrapped his arm around Michael's waist, pulling him closer. “You and your bad dreams,” he whispered into Michael's hair.
“I dreamt you died,” Michael whispered.
“Hey,” Jake said, turning Michael to face him. His eyes searched Michael's face. “I'm not going to leave you, okay? You've got to stop worrying.”
“I know,” Michael sighed, burying his face into Jake's chest beneath the fabric of his t-shirt.
“Go back to sleep,” Jake said, running a hand through Michael's hair. His eyes were already closing again.
Michael snuffled a breath and fell silent.
