It was their first Christmas together and Frodo intended to give Aragorn a proper Shire celebration. It had taken a lot of pleading to convince the man to stay in the smial, instead of running off to guard the borders of their land like he so desired.
"If it means so much to you, I will stay," Aragorn said, cupping Frodo's cheek in his large hand.
Curled up, warm and safe in front of the fire with Aragorn's arms around him, Frodo knew he had made the right choice. His Ranger was here; this would be the best Christmas ever.
